Pricing, Payment and Refunds
How our fees are set, when they fall due, when work begins, and what happens if a matter stops. Extracted from the Terms of Use.
In force since 28 August 2026. This page carries the version applicable today.
These provisions are extracted from our Terms of Use and form part of them.
1. How our fees are set
1.1 Our fees remunerate professional work and the resources deployed to carry it out: the study of your project, the drafting and review of the deeds, the preparation and follow-up of the filings, the coordination of the local professionals, and the follow-up of the matter until it closes.
1.2 Every matter is quoted individually, in an engagement proposal which states the scope of the work, what is included and what is not, the fee, the payment terms and the disbursements to be expected. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal.
1.3 Disbursements are not fees. Government charges, registry fees, notarisation and legalisation costs, translation costs, courier charges and the fees of the local professionals are passed on to you at cost. They vary by jurisdiction and are announced in the proposal as estimates where their amount cannot be known in advance.
1.4 Unless the proposal says otherwise, fees are quoted exclusive of any tax that may be payable, and are payable in the currency stated.
2. Engagement and payment
2.1 A matter is engaged when the proposal has been signed by both parties, through DocuSign or in such other form as we agree.
2.2 Depending on the project, either full payment or a partial advance payment is payable on engagement. The proposal states which, and the amount, according to the nature and duration of the matter.
2.3 Work begins when the payment is received. The client space opens at that point, and not before: it is at that moment that we ask you for the supporting documents, and that the matter enters our production schedule.
2.4 The balance falls due as stated in the proposal — as a rule on delivery of the set of deeds, or on completion of the registration.
2.5 Invoices are issued through Xero and sent to the address you have given us. They are payable within the period stated on the invoice.
2.6 Payments made online by card (including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link) carry a processing fee of 2.40% of the amount paid, added to the invoice at the time of payment by our payment service provider. Other means of payment offered on the invoice carry no processing fee.
3. If a matter stops
3.1 Before work begins. If you withdraw before the payment has been used — that is, before we have begun the work — the payment is refunded, less any disbursement already committed on your behalf.
3.2 Once work has begun. Fees are earned as the work is performed. If a matter is interrupted, whatever the cause, we account for the work done and the disbursements committed; the balance is refunded or invoiced accordingly. We will tell you where a matter stands before you decide.
3.3 Where an authority refuses. A refusal by a registry, a licensing authority or a bank does not give rise to a refund of the fees earned: the work was performed. Where a refusal can be cured, we will tell you what it would take, and at what cost, before doing anything further.
3.4 Where we decline a matter. If, after examining your questionnaire and completing our client due diligence, we decide not to take a matter on, nothing is due and no invoice is issued. Your file is archived and the personal data you communicated is destroyed within six months, and sooner if you ask us. See the Privacy Policy.
4. Suspension
4.1 We may suspend work where an invoice remains unpaid after its due date, where a document we need has not reached us, or where our client due diligence obligations are not satisfied.
4.2 We will always say so in writing before suspending, and say what would lift the suspension. A suspension does not extend any period fixed by an authority.
5. Disputes on an invoice
Tell us within thirty days of the invoice date, saying which item you dispute and why. We will answer in writing, and the undisputed part of the invoice remains payable in the meantime.
